Alassea stepped softly on the autumn foliage, as she made her way through the woods. Two days straight she had been roaming through this maze of disheveled branches. Stepping over a mud filled puddle, she took a deep breath the forest aromas were alive after the early morning rain. The small raise of sunshine that passed through the canopies made golden beam pathways, intensifying ever single particle. Alassea carried with her bow and broad sword. Although she was more skilled with her bow her long delicate fingers holding it steady and precise. The sword was for the protection from those that took on close combat with her.
A smile that reached Alassea’s eyes came to her face. There in front of her stood a large white stag. Walking towards the creature, cautiously, she held one hand out in front of her.
The forest noises, unexpectedly stopped as Alassea heard the drawing back of a bow string. It took her by surprise, she had not time to scream and alarm the deer; but as she heard the deadly arrow hit the stag a cry escaped her lips “NO”.
