The night was dark and thick with the delicate light of the harvest moon. The moonlight's thin tendrils reached out and carressed everything like thin, ghostly fingers. The thick figures of trees were revealed by the light, causing them to look unfamilar and haunting. The light glided across the water like faeries and wrapped itself around a figure like a shawl. The figure was kneeling on the tender grass beside the lake. Her very dark skin blended perfectly with the night, but her pure silver hair shimmered in the moonlight, looking like peices of captured moonlight themselves. She was staring intently at the shimmering lake, her violet eyes dark with concentration and reflecting the depth and surface of the lake. Her toned body was as still as death. Suddenly, whisps of water swirled out of the lake. They floated a foot above the top of the lake and began to swirl around in a circle, growing tighter and tighter until it was one smooth, round sphere, the light reflecting off of it. Without breaking eye contact , she reached out her artisticaly long fingers towards the sphere. At first the sphere moved down away from her outstretched fingers, but with one hard stare at it, it glided gracefully into her hand. It floated there, looking like a clear crystal ball. She waved her hands around it, making it move with her hands. She reached her left hand up towards the heavy moon and pulled it back down slowly. Amazingly, pinched between her thumb and forefinger, was tendrils of moonlight, looking like sheer, flowy fabric. She swirled it around the water sphere and then she slowly pulled her hands away from the sphere. The sphere floated above her, the slender fractions of captured moonlight encircling it like a planet's rings. It sailed around her head a few times before sailing out beyond her and bursting. The pieces of it showered down as miniture stars and flowed towards her in a sparkling moonlit line, and encircled her head like a crown before misting away forever. She closed her eyes and opened them again, her violent violet eyes showing clearly. She didn't move again and she remained where she was, staring at the water.

"That was a nifty trick," said a warm, melodic voice. Another drow with long silver hair that glistened in the moonlight walked toward Andromeda, golden eyes a-glow. "My name is Silaqui," she said, introducing herself. "It's good to know that there are other witches around here."

Andromeda looked up at the voice. She was glad to see that it was another Drow, apparently another Witch.
Smiling, Andromeda stood up. "Thank you Silaqui. And it truly is nice to know of another witch. I was beginning to feel that I was alone." she said in her soft, strangely accented voice. "I am Andromeda. Nice to meet you." she continued to smile, her teeth glittering like pearls in the moonlight and her eyes sparkling with an unseen electricity.

"Likewise," Silaqui replied with a grin. "I didn't know there were any other witches either. It's rather lonely when there's no one else who knows what the hell herbs have to do with actually healing and what not."

Andromeda laughed, a sound clear and mysterious like the night sky. "You've spoke my mind! Have you lived here your whole life?" Andromeda asked brushing some grass off her.

Silaqui shook her head. "No, I've only just arrived recently," she replied. "I grew up with humans in another kingdom. The woman who raised me said that a mob of humans attacked my parents when they arrived, but she managed to get me away from the mob before they killed me, too. So, I grew up with her, and when I started showing signs of possessing power, she taught me all she knew of witchcraft. Before she died, she told me that if I wanted to discover my roots, I should come here. So I did."

Andromeda knodded. "I grew up here. My family didn't know anything about witchcraft so when I began to show signs of possessing powers, they sent me away to the neighborhood witch. Drewsel was her name, and she taught me everything." Andromeda smiled at memories. Her smile soon faded however. "She died in the war."
She looked up at the stars. "So," she said looking back at Silaqui. "do you have a house here?"

Silaqui shrugged. "Not really," she replied. "We kind of like living in the woods here, but I suppose I will have to find a house, eventually."

"Yes I suppose so. I have a house in the housing part of Drest, but I most certainly wouldn't mind living out here." she practically breathed as she looked around her. "You should come and visit me sometime!" she said as teh idea struck her. "I would love it if you could."

"That would be really fun," she replied, her enthusiasm matching Andromeda's. "I don't know any of the other drow yet, so your invitation is most happily accepted."

Andromeda smiled a real, genuine smile. She was glad that she had finally met another drow like her: a witch. Her whole life, she had been looked upon differently. The other drows avoided her as much as possible because they were afraid that she would cast a spell on them if they angered her. In truth, she might do that, but chances are, she wouldn't.
"That would be lovely! Oh, perhaps you shall be able to meet Amunet!" she said.

Silaqui raised a curious eyebrow and asked, "Your familiar, I presume?"

"Oh, yes." she said with a small laugh. "I think I should have mentioned that." Andromedathen stretched, her arms reaching far above her head.
