Silaqui gazed up at the stars peacefully, her long, silver hair glowing softly in the moonlight as she sat there on a rock with her feet soaking in the lake. She fingered the moonstoom that hung around her neck fondly while Ebony, in his panther form, purred noisily beside her.

Surreal looked up at the stars, wondering how many other people in the world were looking at the very same stars. Her long hair hung below her waist, coming back to rest at its normal length when Surreal looked back down with a sigh. Her bright aqua eyes were solemn as the night wind rustled through the trees.
A quiet purr whispered to Surreal's pierced ear and she turned, light glittering off both earrings, her nose ring, and the belly ring she wore, all midnight blue jewels. Silently looking at the drow laying in the grass, Surreal thought with less amusement than dryness that someone else had been looking at the same stars. The question was: start a fight or just walk on....
Surreal smiled one-sidedly and stalked to the woman, making enough noise to be heard as her weapons-both swords resting against either thigh, knives strapped to wrists, black bow and quiver, and knife the length of her forearm strapped to her leg-silently whispered across her mesh dress which covered an orange tank top and black shorts. The moonlight illuminated Surreal's pale face, with help, of course, from her own blue magic. "Late for a drow to be out in neutral territory, is it not?"

Silaqui rose dignantly when the high elf drew near, and her golden eyes flashed malevolently. "I should be asking you the same question," she replied coldly. "I am a being of darkness, a daughter of the night. When should I be out, then, if not at night?"

Surreal shrugged, undaunted as she came to a stop a few feet from the panther. One warning glance and the panther, who had been snarling, hushed. "Asking me the same question?" Surreal asked, obviously fake amusement filling her voice.
"The original question was not being out at night, it was being out at night here. I am here because I watch over my people in these forests at night, that is, protect them from your kind. What is your excuse, drow?" Surreal made the title a curse upon her tongue.

"Because I enjoy these woods," she replied, never taking her eyes off of the mage. "And I am not like the rest of my kind. I was raised among surface dwellers like yourself, so I try not to hold the same racial prejudices against high elves that my people do, even though a mob of your kind killed my real parents. I mean you no harm, mage, nor any of your people." Ebony was growling again, and she rested her hand on his head. He quieted under her gentle touch, and she added, "I will not fight you unless you wish to start it yourself. If you do wish to fight, at least give me your name."

"Raised by surface dwellers?!" Surreal exclaimed. "Oh that is rich. I was captured by gnomes accompanied by some drows at such a young age I don't remember anything about my parents. I was raised by Barbarians, as they would be called, in the Roof of the World. They saved me."
Surreal spat on the ground to show her disdain for many of the other races. "I am not here for a fight, drow, just merely to warn you that should you touch one of mine you deal with me. Despite the lack of battle, however, I will give my name." Surreal gave a mocking bow. "Surreal SaDiablo, High Elven Archmage."

She returned the bow with a crooked simle playing across her lips. "Silaqui Blackstar, Dark Elven Witch."

Surreal gave the smile back, full wattage. "Witch eh? I'm sure you have lots of fun muddling about with death potions that you wish actually worked."
Surreal hooked a strand of fly-away hair behind her ear, having already let the smile fade to indifference, only adding to the fake effect.

Silaqui grimaced at the high elf's ignorance. "I prefer to heal, not kill," she replied lazily, folding her arms across her chest. "And I make fine healing brews. Of course, I know a trick or two if I am forced to fight, but again, I prefer not to resort to fighting." She wanted to teach this hoity-toity high elf a lesson or two about the true powers of witches, but she hid her feelings behind a lazy smile. She also had a great urge to dump some water over Surreal's head just to see how she would react, but again, she thought better of it. "You know, you should really get off your high horse and stop acting like I'm scum under your boot. No one appreciates a snob."

Surreal shrugged off what Silaqui said. The thing was, Surreal had never been-nor would she be a snob. When she got angry, however, she pulled her status and weight. Friends of Surreal, however, either didn't even know who she was or didn't care because she didn't let them care. "You know, I sort of like staying on my high horse when dealing with drows as the Archmage. Must be something about how much I dislike your kind." She shrugged again.
"Then if I become my warrior self," Surreal seemed to physically take on a sense of readiness. "Would you mind if you shared that piece of land with a fellow battler?" she asked, her voice giving off the respect for an equal opponent-one more face in a wave of blood that never ends.
"Maybe even be a regular twenty two year old in the high elf lands." Surreal seemed to shake off the warrior's role. "Sorry...this one takes a little longer to get into.." She closed her eyes for a few moments then opened them, her eyes tired, sad and showing a hint of pain before she looked as commanding as her Archmage self. She hoped Silaqui would take that as what the twenty-two year olds looked like and not as what it was: a second-long window to Surreal's true normal self with added pain and misery as she realized she couldn't even act like a twenty-two year old anymore. "Really sorry about that...I had it going for a second, but I seem to have misplaced it somewhere."

Silaqui softened slightly. "You know, I don't see why our races despise each other so," she said, allowing her kinder side to show through. "I mean, we're all still elves. True, very different elves, but elves nevertheless."
