The mist swirled off of the lake, twisting in tendrils of fog that enveloped the nearby shore. Such a sight could be considered as ominous, but that was not the case. A lone rider and his charger slowly trotted through the mists, headed in the direction of the Human city.
The human never had been to the city and heard a great many things about it. The rider's gray eyes pierced through the fog, but they were weighed down in thought. His bearded face was worn from numerous encounters, but one couldn't tell for his visor was down. His armor was battle scarred and his shield was a wreck. That was why he headed for the Human city; to resupply and offer his allegiance their lord.
The rider dismounted the horse, and walked to the lake. Taking off his helm, the rider bent low and drank from the lake. He stood and let his horse drink his share. He patted his old horse and remounted. As the lake was being left behind him, Cirion Derufin caught a glimpse of the walled Human city.

Nusumi had been traveling on some bussiness and was at the entrance to the city. She was paceing back a forth. She had been calling for a long time but no one came to the door. She knew how much certian humans didnt like her half bred kind. So she waited.
After a while she saw a knight coming down the path to the human city. She had never seen a human knight with such beatiful armor. And she was caught in a daze for a moment. She blushed as his eyes met hers because she knew it was rude to stare. She quickly looked to the ground and went to sit on a large rock at the edge of the path.

Cirion thought he saw a flicker of movement, but dismissed this possible threat; he saw a woman sitting on a large rock along side the path. He noticed as he grew closer that she was either an elf or half-elf. This didn't matter to him; if she assaulted him, he would act accordingly. But he would be as cordial to her as he would with anyone else. Unless she chose otherwise.
He slowed the horse as he came alongside the woman, lifted his visor to get a better look at her. His gray eyes looked benignly on the woman and he pondered why she was just sitting in the middle of nowhere. "Now, what is a fine young lady as yourself sitting here all alone?" asked Cirion Derufin.

Nusumi leaned back on her elbows and looked at the man. She sighed.
"i am alone because...because....because...i don't really know. I usually work alone and the guards wont lets me in. they are afraid of drow spies....i am only half drow..." she looked at the sky and glared at the gatekeeper.

"That isn't the best reason there is and I thought that the Drow were like the High Elves in the sense that they both dislike their half-blood kin. You don't seem to want to cause any trouble in the city, so they should let you in. Tell this gatekeepers that f they do not let you in, they shall have to deal with Cirion Derufin when I arrive.", said Cirion.
He couldn't stand it when anyone made assumpations about others wthout knowing more about the other in question. This woman was an innocent victim in a crime that she didn't commit. Such arrogance in people made Cirion's blood boil with impotence.
"Miss, you now have the pleasure of knowing my name, but I know not yours. Would it be alright for me to gain such knowledge?", asked Cirion from his steed.

Nusumi looked around, 'Well i wouldn't say i havent exacly ever caused trouble." she sighed and continued, 'Well once i stole some food from a local merchant, i gave it back and spent time in jail for it. But they dont really trust theives, who would? A theif cant even get a clean job around here most of the time." she pused a new she was feeling sorry for her self and cheered her self up.
"I apologize, my name is Nusumi Nabiki at your service my lord." she smiled, stood up and bowed.

Letting out a small laugh, Cirion replied, "Now Nusumi, that whole 'my lord' thing is rather pointless. I dislike whenever people do that, prostrate themselves, or other silly things. I'm just the same as you; flesh and blood with a few bones, tendons, organs and ligaments holding me together. So there is no need to bow when you see me."
However, when Nusumi mentioned looking for work, Cirion Derufin thought of several ideas and a few of those seemed acceptable. "And Nusumi," said Sir Derufin, "If you still are looking for work, perhaps I can see to something for you when I get to the city. What kind of work were you trying to find?"

Nusumi smiled and said, "Well, almost any kind of work would be fine." she blushed, "Well i mean there are boundries of course!" she added.
"Most of my jobs i n the past weren't what one would call repetable, i am a theif you know." she sat back down on the nearby rock. She looked up at Sir Derufin, he looked so tall from his horse.
"I am mainly trying to find other sorts of work too." she said.

"One could have many uses for a thief. A thief could be used to gather information, sneak about unnoticed, and 'retrieve' items vital to the success of greater things. I am surprised that no one hasn't offered you a job yet.", said Cirion, "Perhaps I could have some use for you...."

Nusumi smiled at the knight. She stood up and walked a bit closer to him.
"Really!" she said excitedly and continued, "What do you need me to do?"she asked

Sensing the woman's excitement, Cirion replied, "Now calm down; if you were to work for me, all that I need for you to do is to gather and find out information that would help to further the Human city's peace and prosperity. There maybe times when the assignment may seem harsh, but normally I don't take or give assignments of that nature. You would be paid and given a place to sleep as well as food and drink. Does that satisfy you, Nusumi?"

She looked at him slyly and said, "I suppose...."
She smiled again, "When do we start?" she asked

Smiling down at the young woman, Cirion said to her, "Well, I have to get situated in the city first, but once that happens; which shouldn't take long; I shall send for you and give you your first task, Nusumi. I shall send you a letter by the form of a falcon when I am ready. Where can I find you, so I can tell the falcon where to deliver the message?"

Nusumi thought for a moment. She haltingly said, "If i can ever get into town, i will probably be in the square....." she paused, and then contiuned after a moment.
"But if I'm not there, then I'll probably be at the Elven Armoury." She smiled.
"Well you have a business to attend to, I'll be off." she said waiting for an answer.
