Balsid's dark form was the only speck of color in the gold and yellow sea that made up the grasslands. The stallion had slowed his earlier canter to a trot and now, feeling no inference from Eidlin, he was simply walking along a small path between the tall grasses. His memory served to tell him that ahead lay the elven kingdom and behind, the human city. However where he was supposed to go, he knew not.
As animal instinct went, he felt the urge to explore seeing as he had been cooped up in a stall for a good week with less frequent walks. Turning from the path he was on, the black horse wound his way through the grasses to a small knot of trees where he saw tasty green grass tips in the trees' shade.
Above his line of sight, Eidlin Isilramel's gaze was unfocused. She was thinking, thinking back to her first arrival at Adunasir and about the changes that had overtaken her from that point on. The more she remembered, the more depressed and lonely she felt.
She had become more trusting, more accepting, and more amiable than ever before. She had made many friends, more than she had ever had in her entire life, and suddenly, one by one, they disappeared from her life. Now, she wondered if she too should leave seeing as she had come to Adunasir for answers, and she had received none.
Feeling Balsid stop in his slow pace to snip at the last green blades of the season, she felt a weary smile cross her features as she jumped off his back to give him free reign.
With a sigh, Eidlin walked a good twenty paces away from the trees before lowering herself to the ground. Turning to lie on her back, she hid herself from view as she gazed at the red sunset above her. The soft grasses felt warm under her as well as surprisingly soft. In no time, the red sky disappeared from Eidlin's vision as she closed her eyes to a gentle, dreamless sleep.
