Name: Eiddwyn
Age: 17
Appearance: Cloudy gray eyes peer out from underneath light brown bangs. Her sweet, innocent face and slim build contribute to a general impression of innocence. Her hair falls to the middle of her back, neither truly straight nor wavy enough for one to take note of. She wears a simple, unembroidered peasant blouse made of undyed linen and a similarly unadorned brown skirt. Her brown cloak is usually worn pushed back behind her shoulders with the hood down, as Eiddwyn considers it to be rather an inconvenience. On her feet she wears a pair of soft, flexible boots, though she kicks them off at every chance she gets.
Personality: Eiddwyn is an optimist. She doesn't let much get her down. When push comes to shove, she doesn't like to push back much, preferring instead to find a nonconfrontational way to keep herself on her feet. She's very trusting and always looks for the good in people without seeming to realize the kind of trouble that can get you in. She looks at the world with a wide-eyed sense of wonder that leads her to seek answers to her many questions about the meaning of life, peach fuzz, and other random issues.
Eiddwyn loves to dance, but only when no one's watching because she's horrible at it. She also likes dandelions, and doesn't quite understand why they're considered weeds instead of flowers. She especially likes them at that stage where you can blow their seeds all over and makes a wish every time. She's not all that fond of roses because they represent sophistication and maturity, and Eiddwyn hates being told to grow up (which seems to happen unaccountably often). She's not remotely afraid of spiders or mice, but is easily intimidated by other people.
Family: her mother is dead and she never knew her father. She has no siblings or extended family. (How detailed, huh?)
History: Eiddwyn grew up with her mother in a small cottage on the outskirts of a village in another land. Her father abandoned her mother when she was born, leaving her mother heartbroken. It was her mother who instilled in her the sense of wonder that would later inspire her to become a scholar. Eiddwyn loved her mother dearly and although she never quite fit in with the others her age in the village, she never felt as if she was missing anything. However, she was always aware of a certain sadness in her mother, lurking just beneath the surface attitude of perpetual cheerfulness. She knew it was because of her father, whom her mother had so loved and who did not love her in return. Eiddwyn longs someday to find the kind of perfect love that eluded her mother, but at the same time fears to seek it out because of the heartbreak her mother experienced on that same search.
It was when Eiddwyn turned twelve that the sickness came. Every day her mother grew more listless. Soon she became bedridden; later she died, with sorrow in her face and her old lover's name on her lips. Eiddwyn mourned her bitterly for weeks before finally resolving to go out and make a new life for herself, the way her mother would have wanted her to; after all, there was nothing for her now in the place where she had grown up. On her travels, she began to learn about magic, and was fascinated. Thus did she become a Scholar, for this was one thing she knew nothing about and Eiddwyn loves to learn.
And then, at long last, she came here to continue her journey, her search for knowledge, love, and life.
I really hope I didn't miss anything. I've decided that I'm going to edit this every time I decide on a new detail of Eiddwyn's past or something, tweak her history so that it fits.
