Creil had always been a deeply religious man, he had been raised as such, and would die as such. Saving the lives and souls of others was ever his priority, only second to his regular visits to the chapel. He had been on the road for many a week, and had not intoned a prayer in the house of god for that time. It had left him feeling slightly empty and unfulfilled, as if something, a part of him, were missing. Now, he knelt before the altar in the church. The great hall was empty, and his every movement sent metallic echoes up into the vaulted cieling, filling the pews with sound. He had come bearing only his broadsword, and now held it flat before him in his outstretched hands, as he quietly intoned a prayer.
Oh heavely father, lord of all that is, Give me the courage to do what is right, Give me the power to right what is wrong, Give me the sight to see true evil, Give me the means to combat the dark, Give me the spirit, to serve the faithfull, Give me the strength to enforce thy will, Give my blade thy blessing, and my sould thy guidance.
Oh heavenly father, Give me the love, to see through thine eyes.
The last words of his prayer echoed about the stone walled church, though he continued to sit, arms outstretched, in meditative silence.

Lyconus arrived at the church hoping for a bit of time for prayer and reflection. What he didn't expect was to see the man he had met in the town square.

Creil sensed, rather than heard another man enter the church. He said nothing, but stayed completely still, his arms outstetched, holding his sword as he knelt in silence, communing with his god.

"You know....you could be caught and sentenced to jail or worse for doing this." Lyconus spoke in a tone that made it seem as if he was worried.

"My rank is all the ecclestial authority need to bear arms within the house of god. It is mine perogative to protect his house, and his followers. Let them come, i shall defend both myself and the sanctity of this place till the last drop of blood is spilt from mine body, or theirs." He said without turning to face Lyconus. He recognised the man's voice from the town square.

He smiled and walked over a bit more. "And I shall aide you then."

Creil sheathed his massive broadsword and slung it across his back. He moved over from directly in front of the altar to make room for his companion. "Come brother, lead us in prayer." He said, turning to smile at Lyconus.

He nodded in respect and walked over and knelt down and began a prayer. "May The Holy Lord watch over us..." He continued on with his prayer.

Creil knelt beside Lyconus, repeating his every word. After several minutes, they finished the prayer, and the two sat in silence for a while longer. Slowly, Creil stood, "The day wears on brother, and i doth have matters to attend to." He said, clasping Lyconus's shoulder warmly.

He smiled weakly and had a new respect for the High Lord. "I understand, I shall see you later then." With that, he began to walk away from the altar.

Creil smiled knowingly, and turned to leave the main church as he headed for the chapter house of the paladin order here in Rhyfaugh.
