Eidlin turned as she heard the knight call out behind her as he rode up. "A lady of my stature, Sir, who ever told you I was a lady?" she smiled nonetheless. Indeed, she was happy to be called back. "I have taken your warning into account; however, I do not wish to heed it. I accept your offer, for I would be more than happy to come with you, Sir Knight," she smiled warmly at him, her eyes sparkling with happiness and the thought of adventure.

Creil chuckled, glad she had chosen to accompany him, "I spoke not of rank, more so, thine manner. Rank is often of no import, i know of several jackasses with rank and power, which doth overtake their feeble minds, as they do delve into depauchery and sin." He said, beaming as he thought about Rit Megliaf. "Then come," Creil said, "Let us take our leave of the streets, for the day wears on. to the church." he said, smiling.

Eidlin couldn't help but smile, and blush a little at the compliment. She wondered what the healer woman would think of her now, "I thank you for the offered compliment. But Sir, why is it that we're headed to the church? What is so dangerous about going to church?" Eidlin knew that there was something she had yet to learn about this human city. "Has this something to do with the bans on religion the lord of this city has put out? I didn't quite understand which religions he has banned, or why?"

Creil frowned, "The 'Lord' Rit Megliaf, I do fear me, is a paranoid power crazed egomaniac. He does see the power religion has over the minds of 'his' people, and he doth fear and envy it. Small minded man, of small stature, with a multitude of underlings to fawn over him, and carry out his every whim." Creil smiled a knowing smile, "It is the recourse, and the sanctuary of the weak - power." He said, his tone flat and his face expressionless.

Eidlin knew of power-hungry leaders for she had the unwanted pleasure of encountering a few of them herself. "Indeed, it seems that egocentric rulers grow greedy and obsessed with the power they are granted. And perhaps it is power itself that brings out the worst in people," Eidlin stated. She thought of all the different religions she'd encountered and couldn't believe that this hauty lord could be so bold as to ban all of them. "Who allows him such power?" she whispered, almost to herself.

Creil caught her last words, though they were scarecly more than a whisper, "None grant him such power, it is an authority that he doth not, in truth, posess. It is human depravity that doth afford him the means to act as such, however." Creil said as they neared the church, the spire rising above them, towering defiantly in a sea of debauchery and depravity. A bastion of hope for the faithfull. Creil dismounted and handed his horses reins to the groom in the stables near to the church, before offering his arm out to Eidlin, to help her dismount.

Eidlin focused her gaze on the tall spire of the church that loomed before them. Memories of seeing a church such as this almost brought tears to her eyes. Her father used to take her to mass when she was a small child, telling her stories from the Gospels and of their Lord. She could even remember sitting in the pews as a small child, only than she was alone, and feeling protected in the sacred walls from all evil that waited beyond the church, the evil that had taken her father.
Eidlin sighed, as she accepted the Creil's help and dismounted. She hadn't seen a church for many years now, not since she had escaped her home village from the plague that had taken her parents. Her faith, however, never wavered as the healer woman who had taken her in spoke of the Nature Spirits that she believed protected her people by giving herbs magical healing properties. For Eidlin, all of that was God's work.
"So, I take it that most of the danger you spoke of resides in the fact that we're going against the laws of the lord Megliaf? That we are keeping our faith in the Lord, as he wants us to do not?" Eidlin asked, placing yearning eyes on the structure before them.

Creil sighed, "In truth, Lady Eidlin, the fool's laws and bounties doth rally many feeble minded men to his cause, driven by greed and self interest. I myself have a bounty on mine head." He chuckled, "Though none have made any serious attempt to collect, as yet." he smiled. Creil offered his arm out to her once more, to escort her into the church, as the groom led their horses away.

Eidlin looked at his offered arm with surprise. This was the first time she was being treated like this, as if she were indeed a lady, and was unsure of whether she should take it or not. Afraid that her hesitation might offend him, she took it anyway, with a small smile, and let him lead her into the church. As they walked, she couldn't help but voice one of her most prevaliet thoughts to him, "Why then hasn't someone removed such an unjust ruler from his throne if it could cause so many people happiness? Moreover, if he is only protected by the feable minded, there were many ways of turning them from his cause as well. A show of strenght in the opposition would perhaps cause your Rit Megiaf's supporters to flee from him." As soon as she had said this, Eidlin wondered how many people Creil had on his side, on the side of faith, and the church?
