Eiddwyn's gut was a bundle of nerves as she pushed open the door to the tavern and entered. The notices on the gate had her hackles up, and she figured that the Tavern was probably a good place to go for information on the situation here. Treason from a Paladin was something Eiddwyn was finding incredibly difficult to believe, and she couldn't help but wonder if the trouble lay not with this Creil Berevir person but with the ruler of this land. It would be like in stories, Eiddwyn thought, but she wasn't exactly sure if she was pleased about the idea; in fact, she was pretty sure that she would be the first character to die in an adventure book. I'm a Scholar, I don't even carry a weapon!
Nervously she sat down at the bar, avoiding eye contact with other people and listening in on bits of conversation. Often Eiddwyn had found that the best way to find things out was to be inconspicuous and pay attention. Besides, what else was she supposed to do, just walk up to someone and ask, "Hey, I'm kind of new here so before I settle in I just want to ask you, is anyone planning any kind of rebellion? I really don't think I want to stick around for a civil war..." Eiddwyn smiled a little. Yeah, because that wouldn't immediately get me branded as a spy -- if a very poor one. Pulling the hood of her cloak down, she hid inside the garment's reassuring folds and prayed to whatever was actually out there that she wouldn't be noticed.

OOC: Uhhh... in case people aren't replying because Eiddwyn doesn't want to be noticed, she doesn't want that to happen but I (the mun) do. Please respond? Maybe someone could get mad at her for listening in on their conversation...?

Eiddwyn jumped. "Uh, w-well," she stammered, "d-do you have anything non-alcoholic?" Then she couldn't restrain herself anymore. She had to know what was going on. "I'm kind of new here... do you know anything about those notices posted all over town? I'm a little confused. I mean, I just find it so hard to believe that a Paladin would commit treason..."

Adrienne thought for a moment "Yes we do we ave green tea. Anyways I do know a bit about the notices. They all came from Rit the the leader which said this ' In sight of recent events which many have complained about, the Lord has made a decision of last resort. All those who practice religion of any nature are ordered to report themselves to the authority as soon as possible. All those who do not will meet an unfortunate end. Lord Megliaf does this for all of you.' Well the Paladin Criel Bevier violated that rule b going to church ad that means he commited treason which I think is wrong."

"Green tea then, I guess," Eiddwyn said. She thought for a moment about what the squire (her attire and level of physical fitness made it clear what her status was) had told her. "This Rit Megliaf doesn't seem very smart," she commented. "People get really defensive about their religion sometimes. Besides, Paladins usually get a lot of support from -- well, pretty much everyone..." She knew it wasn't necessarily smart to say these things in a place where she could be so easily overheard, but hey, it was just her opinion. Anyway, it's not like I'm much of a threat to anyone, she thought with a small smile. Even with all I've learned about magic, sometimes I think my mere survival is solely due to luck.

Adrienne went and got her the drink and returned. "Here you go and you know what I think you're right. I have actually considered joining him but am not sure yet." she said.

Eiddwyn shuddered as she took a sip of her green tea. "You have fun with that," she said. "I'm staying well out of this conflict. Look at me, I'd be the first to go in any kind of adventure!" Gesturing at herself, she indicated her lack of any weaponry or armor whatsoever -- well, unless one counted her pocket-knife, which wasn't much more than four inches long.

"Well you are may not have any physical weapons but if you can do magic you could help but I see your point as I said I have not decided." said Adrienne.

Eiddwyn blinked, wondering where the squire would have gotten the idea that she could do magic from, then glanced down and saw that her weather magic book was still in her hand. "I do know some magic," she admitted. "I don't think any of it would be of much use in battle, though. Mostly it's just little things, like creating light and calling maybe a breath of wind... I can heal minor wounds, but nothing big or life-threatening." She smiled, feeling a little silly. "I only ever learned any of it out of curiousity, never with the intent to actually hurt anyone..." she trailed off, looking a little frightened at the thought.

Adrienne smiled and said "Well if you keep at it I'm sure you'll learn lots of magic."

Eiddwyn shook her head. "It takes a long time for me to learn new spells," she said regretfully. "Also, I don't really think I have it in me to actually hurt anyone..." Trailing off for the third time, Eiddwyn tried to remember the last time she had hurt a living creature. Her mother had raised her to have an immense amount of respect for anything that grew or drew breath. Eiddwyn didn't think she would ever be able to live with it if she killed someone... Coming back to herself, she shook her head slightly as if to shake off the memories of sunshine, flowers, and dirt draining from her mother's cupped hands into her own. "Thank you for your encouragement, though," she added to the squire.

"No problem I actually have not killed anyone as of yet but I will hurt someone if they hurt me."said Adrienne.

Eiddwyn nodded. "That makes sense," she said. She thought for a moment. "I suppose I'd probably try to hurt someone if they were picking on something helpless and wouldn't stop..." As she said those words, she remembered a time when she'd caught a few village boys throwing stones and being overall very cruel to a small dog. She'd been able to shame them into leaving it alone, but she supposed that if that hadn't worked she'd been angry enough to've done something drastic.

Adrienne smiled and looked around to make sure noone was listening and said "People can be so cruel sometimes."
