Finally she had arrived at the human city, and early as well. Kaia was to meet her cousin around noon, when the sun was high in the sky.
In that case it is no use heading to the tavern right now, she thought casually. Her hand in habit rested on the handle of her weapon. It was then that this simple movement reminded her that her weapons had grown dull during her journey. After looking around the town for a short while she found the Smithies.
Entering she found that nobody was there. Shrugging she sat down and un-sheathed two identical sword like blades from either side of her black cloth belt.
One would not exactly call them swords. The were longer, staring off at the handle they got thiner until the end was simply a sharp point. On the hilt of the right sword was a sapphire and on the left was amber. Kaia knew not the actual name of them so she called them Alli. It had been her long dead mothers name and Kaia still remembered the day Alli had given her them.
Kaia let out a rare suppressed laugh, in her family the females always seemed to be the more war-like. Sitting on a large wooden barrel she waited for somebody to come. If nobody did come, she supposed that she would just do the sharpening herself and that the blacksmith wouldn't mind her using their materials.

Red walked into her shop/forge, whistling. She stopped and grinned when she noticed Kaia. She grabbed a heavy apron off a hook near the door and tied it as she walked over. "My apologies. I hadn't known I'd have a customer so soon. I'm Devlin Shanks, the new resident blacksmith. What can I do for you?"

"It's alright I haven"t been here for long." She showed Devlin Shanks her blunt weapons. Removing her long black glove from her hand she ran a finger down the edge of the blade. It had grown so dull that it didn't even make the slightest cut.
"I would like them sharpened, if you have the time?" she said, half answering the last question, while almost asking one at the same time.

Red grinned and took one of the swords. She held it up to see it better. "Beautiful craftsmanship. Well made. I'd be happy to sharpen them for you, and as your my first customer, I'll do it free of charge."

"Thank you!" Kaia said gratefully as she handed Devlin the other sword and slid her glove back onto her arm. Then once again taking a seat on the barrel she surveyed the room. The morning light shone in through the window and caused a bright ray of sun to stretch across the room.
