Rit's eyes scanned across paper after paper as he fidled with a letter opener in his hands. He enjoyed twirling the letter opener much more than reading these papers but they were one of the chores that came with being the lord of this great city. But something recently that came to light actually made him doubt the greatness of this city. Five of his most trusted advisors, who all were also religiously inclined, were caught red handed planning a revolt. The were all tried, found guilty, and sentenced to be beheaded all under Rit's watchfull eye. Now he had two things to deal with. The first of the matter was to find five new advisors and that is what some of the papers were about. They were letter asking to become the new advisors but Rit had rejected all of them. He couldn't trust a single one of the bunch. He needed someone that thought and acted exactly like he did.
The other issue was at the top of his mind mostly and at the top of the common folks' gossip. After the incident with the five advisors he had become very untrusting of everyone and everything. He had become easy to charge people of treason for the smallest acts or just because he thought that they would cause a rebellion, especially when it came to the religious. And so to solve all this he was launching a religious scurge of the city. His idea was that if their was no religion then there wouldn't be a rebelion. So he was sending the army around to find any and every religious invidual in the city. He had been doing this all along since he original became Lord but he had kept it quiet and small. It seemed like a good time now to bring it to full force.
He placed the letter opener onto the desk and moved his gaze to the empty tea cup. He was begining to get thirsty again from all the stress he was putting himself through and anyways his slave girl should have refilled this cup a while ago. "There is going to be a whipin tonight!" His mighty voice bellowed throughout the entire mansion. "Every moment that pasts untill you enter this room means more lashes!" He let his eyes drift back to the papers and read another letter critizing his scurge.
