Meiso Cede stepped to the lakes edge and looked over it's waters. He ran a hand through his short red hair and sighed. Being a thief wasn't easy every where.

Eidlin Isilramel slowed her horse to a walk as she neared the edge of the water. Swinging her leg over her stallion's back she jumped to the ground. She let him go and take a drink while she looked around. Far off in one direction she saw a stretch of trees and in the opposite the rafters of a fort, probably a castle.
They had been traveling for a long time and she wasn't sure in which direction to head off now, the human city or the realm of the High Elves. She knew that the correct answer would be neither, but that was not a choice. She sighed and sat down on the ground to rest.
The wind lightly played with her wavy brown hair while she gazed out at the water.
'They say that the elves are noble and proud. The people warned me about their dislike for half breeds of their kind,' Eidlin told herself. 'They said that the humans would never know that I was Half Elven. That I would fit in amongst them,' she sighed while pulling her thoughts together. She couldn't keep wondering from place to place expecting someone to just take her in.
Suddenly, she felt uneasy. Looking around Eidlin saw no one accept her black horse and the rare bird that flew above the water. Could her sences be wrong, or was someone there?

Meiso looked up in time to see a girl on a horse stop by the lake. Slowly he blened into the grasses around him and snuck over. There was something diffrent about this girl, but he wasn't sure what. He watched as she sat.
When she looked around, he crouched near the ground, still watching. It didn't seem as though she had anything he'd like to take, but just to be sure, he would not show himself.

Eidlin felt unnerved as she scanned the open field one more time. Surely someone was there. But no matter how closely she listened or how hard she looked she saw nothing out of the ordinary.
'Perhaps it was nothing,' she told herself. But fooling herself proved to be more difficult.
Standing up, she turned to her horse who was walking farther and farther into the lake. She groaned. Eidlin hoped that with a weapon in had she would feel better, but she didn't really feel like walking into the lake for it.
"Balsid," she called to her horse as she stood at the water's edge. "Get back here! Balsid!"
The horse looked up and, with a glint in his eye, walked even further into the water. He looked up at her and neighed gently while throwing his head up in the air.
"Funny, very funny!" Eidlin cried. Determined not to let her horse be the boss, she made up her mind.
She bent down, unfastened her sandals and leaving them on the bank, she walked into the cold water. Pulling up her yellow dress so as not to get it wet she waddled after the playful animal.
The cold water was making her feet numb and the stones on the bottom where slippery and made it hard for her to keep her balance. With all her concentration bent on walking, she didn't hear her horse as he began galloping over to her. She looked up too quickly and as her body arched backwards she lost her balance. Her foot slipped off a stone and she fell hard on her back.

Lyconus quietly snuck up on the man who was seemingly about to do something bad. "I'd suggest you not rob her."

"Wasn't going to." He murmmered, just as the girl fell. He sighed, fed up with kneeling in the grass, along side this person. He stood and went over to the edge of the water, where the girl lay on her back. "You ok?" He called out to her.

Eidlin gasped as the cold water encircled her body. She was dreadfully cold. Just as she fell, she heard someone's voice from the bank.
"You ok?" a man yelled.
She quickly turned around in the water trying to see behind herself. Two men stood on the bank, watching her.
'How embarrassing,' she thought while getting up. 'That horse will be the end of me.' Looking around, she tried to see where he had gotten to, with her only weapon. But the black thing kept far away from her, as if knowing that she wasn't happy with him.
Eidlin wondered if she should head to shore. Her instinct had been right about someone being there in the first place, and this time she didn't sense any danger.
"Yes," she finally answered. "I'd be better if I wasn't wet!"

Lyconus stepped out into view. "I think you are right about that milady."

Eidlin gave a small smile of agreement to the second man standing on the bank. Neither of them seemed to be threatening so she decided to take a risk and come out of the lake unarmed.
Standing up proved harder than she realized with her carrying half the lake water in her dress. She found her balance again and headed toward the shore.
'Where is your elven grace when you need it, Eidlin?' she asked herself. She had to swing her arms a few times to regain her balance, but she made it to the shore without another mishap.
She stopped a few feet in front of the two men. She felt quite uncomfortable standing there, soaking wet, facing two strangers. However, she offered a small smile to both of them. After all, they must find her situation incredibly amusing.

He grinned back. "A bit wet out there, isn't it?"

"Oh, only a little bit," Eidlin replied. She then looked at the two men before her. From the looks of them, one was definitely better off than the other. She wondered who they were, and if they could help her get to one of her destinations.
"May I have the pleasure of inquiring for your names my lords?" she asked. "After all, I am at a disadvantage, for I provided you amusement, but you have given me nothing in return," she said smiling.

He raised an eyebrow, smirking. "No need to call me a lord, I'm just a petty theif." He let out a laugh, "And my name is Meiso."

"I'm just Lyconus and the one who made sure this theif didn't take advantage and rob you."

Eidlin was surprised at how easily Meiso spoke of him being a thief. She figured that such a profession was common in the human city. She then had to wonder about Lyconus, for he never said who he was. To her he seemed to have the makings of a knight, with his morals.
"Well, then I must be grateful to you both. You Meiso, for being so kind as not to rob me; and you Lyconus, for being so protective of a stranger that happened to be me. In either case, I'm pleased to meet you both," she said inclining her head to both of them.

He grinned. "Ma'am, I hate to say it, but I couldn't get anything to eat from what you have."
